- HQ C'tan - The Nightbringer, Necron god of destruction, armed with scythe.
- HQ C'tan - The Deceiver, Necron god, knows other beings' thoughts, desires and fears.
- HQ - Necron Lord, leader and energy loci, armed with Staff of Light or Warscythe.
- HQ - Necron Destroyer Lord, leader on skimming flyer.
- Elite - Flayed One, beast, advances before the main force or infiltrates, armed with long flensing blades, squads contain 4-10.
- Elite - Immortal, giants, squads contain 5-10, armed with Gauss Blaster.
- Elite - Pariah, anti-psyker weapon, radiates a sense of horror, based not on Necrontyr but on human, squads contain 4-10, armed with Warscythe.
- Troop - Necron Warrior, basic trooper, armed with Gauss Blaster, large squads between 10 and 20.
- Fast Attack - Destroyer, armed with heavy weaponry on hovering platform, squads of between 3 and 5.
- Fast Attack - Scarab Swarm, tiny robots to attack armoured units, as they self destruct.
- Fast Attack - Wraith, like a ghost, shifting in and out of phase, armed with powerful shock lashes and scalpel blades.
- Heavy Support - Heavy Destroyer, Immortal on flyer, squads between 1 and 3, armed with heavy Gauss Cannon.
- Heavy Support - Tomb Spyder, artificial arachnoid construct, repairs Necron technologies and creates Scarabs, squad up to 3.
- Troop/Transport/Heavy Support - Monolith, transport craft with dark portal, armed with Gauss Arcs.
- Escort - Jackal Class Raider, armed with Lightning Arc.
- Escort - Dirge Class Raider, smaller than the Jackal,armed with Portal, armed with Lightning Arc.
- Cruiser - Shroud Class Light Cruiser, very fast scout ship, hard to detect.
- Cruiser - Scythe Class Harvest Ship, with Portal, armed with Lightning Arc, Gauss Particle Whip and Scarab Hive.
- Cruiser - Reaper Class Harvest Ship, upgrade of Scythe, with Sepulchre.
- Battle - Cairn Class Tombship, with Portal, armed with Sepulchre, Lightning Arc and Scarab Hive.
- The groups of units are called squads, Scarabs are swarms.
